Youth Worker Vacancy

Cornerstone Church is looking for a new Youth Worker to help grow our 11-18s ministry both within and outside of our church walls. We are looking for an experienced, innovative and passionate youth worker, with the ability to lead a team, run clubs, mentor and disciple young people and proactively engage young people from a range of backgrounds, in our local area.

Our church vision is “Building God’s Kingdom as Missional Disciples”. Our mission is to share the love of Jesus, in word and action with our church and community, and to seek to bring them into a personal relationship with Him, growing as His disciples.

Cornerstone Church is situated next to a large housing estate on the edge of the town where there is a great deal of social housing, some local wards being rated as areas of social deprivation. We have an active and vibrant youth ministry in place, with around 25 young people regularly engaged, currently run by a team of experienced volunteers, offering a weekly Friday night youth club and weekly Sunday morning discipleship groups.

Job Overview

  • The candidate will plan, organise and run Friday night youth club (with support from Youth Ministry Lead), which is every Friday evening in the term time.

  • They will be expected to plan youth club team rotas and curriculum development. This includes coming up with themes for the evening, such as dodgeball night/milkshakes/fire pit etc.

  • They will also be responsible for booking any off-site trips that the youth club may run at the end of term.

  • They will be responsible for planning and organising Sunday morning content for the young people that attend church, and the rota for the youth team.

  • They will need to contact parents and send out emails when necessary.

  • They will need to be available for a biweekly line management meeting with the Youth Ministry Lead.

  • They will be responsible for organising a summer youth festival trip and ideally being able to take the youth group away on the trip.

You will be working under a voluntary Youth Ministry Lead, with that person being a trustee, your line manager and being the link between the youth group and the church community.

If you are already part of another church family, we are willing to be flexible to accommodate that - with the commitment of 2 hours every other Sunday morning to run a youth session at Cornerstone Church.

Working Hours: 10hrs/week averaged, to include alternate Sunday mornings, regular Friday evenings, admin hours and one-off events by agreement. Hours could increase depending on demand.

Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays pro rata, generally taken out of school term time by agreement.

Remuneration: £25,000 pro rata to be reviewed on an annual basis.

Application closes:  20th February 2025. We reserve the right to close the process earlier if enough promising candidates apply before this date.

Interviews: Early March 2025. Job commencing asap.
